The Grants Advisory Panel (GAP) is designed to ensure that Alcohol Change UK meets the highest standards of grant-making and consistently supports the best projects.
Advisory Panels are a tier of management below the board of trustees and whilst they do not have delegated authority to make decisions, their purpose is to make suggestions and recommendations to the full board.
They provide an opportunity for people with specialist skills and knowledge to contribute to the development of the organisation.
The Experts by Experience Panellists are individuals who have experienced alcohol harm, either directly or indirectly, or who have experience in the delivery of alcohol services.
Panel members help with the shortlisting of research proposals by ensuring there is a demonstrable commitment to public involvement, checking the relevance of the application for those who are affected by alcohol harm, and assessing the potential impact of the project.
The Panel also feeds into research priority setting, and helps Alcohol Change UK identify themes for future funding calls.
